STEP 1: How to Locate the Posterior Deltoid Trigger Point #One
The Posterior Deltoid is a muscle in the deltoid group. It is present over the shoulder. The Posterior Deltoid, as the name suggests, appears near the back, following the anterior and medial deltoids. This muscle arises from the spine of the shoulder blade onto your back, inserting into a ridge on the humerus—the bone present in the arm. This muscle helps the movement as it swings away from the body and back again. Place your hand over the back of the arm near the shoulder and move it away from your body and repeat; you will feel the muscle tense beneath your fingers. This is your Posterior Deltoid.
STEP 2: How to Self-Release the Posterior Deltoid Trigger Point # One
we will need a ball and a wall. We learned the location of this muscle in the previous video, near the back of the arm and close to the shoulder. Place the ball over your muscle and lean against the wall, keeping the ball in between. You can move the ball around until you find the right spot and apply pressure by leaning into it. Hold for about 30 seconds and release.
STEP 3: How to Stretch the Posterior DeltoidTrigger Point # One
The Posterior Deltoid helps bring the arm back and up at the shoulder joint. To stretch it, we’ll be doing the opposite. Stand near a wall and stretch your hand out in front of you with the palm facing ahead (i.e. facing the wall). Rest both your palm and arm against the wall and lean in towards the wall with your body. You should be feeling the stretch within the muscle. Hold for about 30 seconds and release.
