STEP 1: How to Locate the Middle Deltoid Trigger Point #One
The Medial Deltoid is a muscle in the deltoid group. It is present over the shoulder. The Medial Deltoid, as the name suggests, appears between the anterior and posterior deltoids and arises from the shoulder blade, ultimately inserting into a ridge on the humerus—the bone present in the arm. This muscle helps the movement of the arm as it swings away from the body. Place your hand over the middle of the arm near the shoulder and move it away from your body; you will feel the muscle tense beneath your fingers.
STEP 2: How to Self-Release the Middle Deltoid Trigger Point # One
To massage the Medial Deltoid, we will need a ball and a wall. We learned the location of this muscle in the previous video, near the middle of the arm and close to the shoulder. Place the ball over your muscle and lean against the wall, keeping the ball in between. You can move the ball around until you find the right spot and apply pressure by leaning into it. Hold for about 30 seconds and release.
STEP 3: How to Stretch the Middle DeltoidTrigger Point # One
The Medial Deltoid helps in bringing the arm away from the body, so to stretch it, we’ll be doing the opposite movement. You will need a yoga belt, or a long piece of cloth. Hold your affected arm (for this example, the right arm) behind your body, placing one end of the belt/cloth in your right hand. With the left hand, hold the belt and lift overhead until you can feel the stretch in your affected right arm. Bring the arm down in front of your body slowly. Hold for 30 seconds and release. Remember to do the other arm as well.
