STEP 1: How to Locate the Masseter Trigger Point #One

The Masseter is a thick, somewhat quadrilateral muscle present in the face. It is a very important muscle that helps in chewing. It arises from the corner of the jaw bone and is inserted on the cheekbone. It has four trigger points. The first two are present near the cheekbone and the next two are present near the lower jaw. The third TrP is in the region rests over the last tooth in the upper jaw. This muscle tends to be overworked in people who clench their jaw too much in anger, stress, or worry.

STEP 2: How to Self-Release the Masseter Trigger Point # One

Self-releasing the Masseter is simple. Locate the muscle’s trigger point, found by the last tooth of the upper jaw (as shown in the earlier video). Place your thumb over the point, keeping your fingers resting on your forehead and your elbow against a wall. Hold for 30 seconds and release.

STEP 3: How to Stretch the MasseterTrigger Point # One

Stretching the Masseter is simple. There is a way to release and stretch the Masseter at the same time. First, locate the trigger point and place your fingers over it. Apply pressure over the trigger spots while slowly opening your mouth wide. The other, more natural way to do this is through a big, long yawn. This opens the muscle and helps release any built-up tension.
