Trigger point pain from Extensor Hallucis Brevis Trigger Point #One and how to find relief

STEP 1: How to Locate the Extensor Hallucis Brevis Trigger Point #One

The Extensor Hallucis Brevis, as the name suggests, is a short muscle on top of the foot that helps extend the greater toe. An easy way to locate it is by placing your hand just below the ankle, slightly to the outside of the midline. Wiggle the greater toe; you will feel a muscle tensing. This is the Extensor Hallucis Brevis.

STEP 2: How to Self-Release the Extensor Hallucis Brevis Trigger Point # One

To self-release the Extensor Hallucis Brevis, you will need a ball. Locate the muscle as shown in the earlier video. Sit down in a cross-legged position and place the ball beneath the muscle. Apply pressure on the foot using your hands, but only if you require additional pressure. If you are unable to sit completely cross-legged, you may sit bending only the leg you are massaging. Place one hand back on the floor for support and keep the other knee up in a comfortable position. Hold for 30 seconds to a minute and release.

STEP 3: How to Stretch the Extensor Hallucis BrevisTrigger Point # One

Please contact a therapist using the “Find Therapist” button. We do not recommend working on this muscle unless under the guidance of a qualified professional.
