Trigger point pain from Adductor Hallucis Trigger Point #One and how to find relief

Jun 7, 2018 | Foot Pain

STEP 1: How to Locate the Adductor Hallucis Trigger Point #One

The Adductor Hallucis is a muscle that helps the greater toe come closer to the rest of the toes. An easy way to locate this muscle is by placing your hand below the ball of the foot (touching the sole) near the greater toe. Fan your toes apart and bring them together repeatedly. You will feel a muscle tensing beneath your hand; that is the Adductor Hallucis. Straining of this muscle typically causes pain over the greater toe.

STEP 2: How to Self-Release the Adductor Hallucis Trigger Point # One

To self-release the Adductor Hallucis you will need a ball. Locate the muscle as shown in the earlier video. To release the muscle, stand on the ball while it is in position over the trigger point, and use the weight of your leg for pressure while sitting or standing—whichever is most comfortable for you. You may let your heel rest on the floor. Hold for 30 seconds and release.

STEP 3: How to Stretch the Adductor HallucisTrigger Point # One

To stretch the Adductor Hallucis, grab the greater toe with your hand and pull it backward, away from the midline. Hold for about 30 seconds and release.
