STEP 1: How to Locate the Abductor Digiti Minimi (Foot) Trigger Point #One

The Abductor Digiti Minimi is a small muscle running from the heel bone to the little toe, helping fan the toes away from the midline, and helps flex the toes. Place a light hand on the outer edge of the foot and curl the toe in; you will feel a muscle moving. This is the Abductor Digiti Minimi.

STEP 2: How to Self-Release the Abductor Digiti Minimi (Foot) Trigger Point # One

To self-release the Abductor Digiti Minimi, you will need a ball. Locate the muscle as shown in the earlier video. To release the muscle, stand on the ball while it is in position over the trigger point, and use the weight of your leg for pressure while sitting or standing—whichever is most comfortable for you. You may allow either your heel or your toes to rest on the floor. Hold for 30 seconds and release.

STEP 3: How to Stretch the Abductor Digiti Minimi (Foot)Trigger Point # One

The Abductor Digiti Minimi is an abductor of the little toe. To stretch it, we will create an opposing stretch. First, sit on all fours and straighten out one leg, say the right leg. Place your toes on the ground and curl them away from the sole. Turn the foot inward slightly so your heel is facing outward. Try to push into the ground with your foot for a greater stretch. Slowly, lower the right knee onto the ground and hold for about 30 seconds before releasing. Remember to stretch the other side as well.
